mesmerizing, expressive eye Makeup

 mesmerizing, expressive eye Makeup

Having mesmerizing, expressive eyes is a natural trait for a few of us, I admit I have beautiful eyes and always hear that from all kinds of people, and I know it is every woman’s dream and one of the reasons behind the existence of decorative cosmetics. When trying to visually reshape your eyes, makeup is your best ally as long as you keep in mind that black and dark colors make the eye look smaller. If you wish to optically enlarge your eyes add eye shadows beginning at the inner corner and working outward eventually using darker tones as you near the outer corner. Use lighter and darker nuances of the same color for best results.

Step one – the choice

Select a light neutral color of shades. For example, walnut or honey color for darker skin and gray tones for a paler complexion.

Step two – defining the guidelines

Look in the mirror and using your finger as a guideline place it horizontally to the point where the peak of the fold of your lid meets the brow bone. Add eye shadows only to the area below your finger.

Step three – the method

The brush that you use to apply eye shadow should be soft and flat. Apply shadows with horizontal strokes following the guideline of your finger.

Step four – application

You can paint outside the boundaries of your eye toward the outer corner, but keep within the guidelines determined by your finger. Blend all nuances smoothly to avoid creating contrast and looking like a clown.

Step five – the finishing touch

There should be no great difference where the eye shadows end and the skin on your temples begins. If there is a contrast, do your best to blend the shades as close to your skin as possible. If you do this right, you will create the illusion of bigger and wider eyes.

There are many colors you can use and ways to create or emphasize your eyes

see more explanations below for another viewers description

If you’ve never tried a smoky eye, it may be time to add this smoldering look into your makeup arsenal. Not only is the smoky eye sexy, it has the power to take off years from your face. To really look younger, use cream shadows instead of powders because they won’t settle into fine lines, says Amy Nadine, Proactiv makeup artist.

Smoky eye made simple
First, use a cream-colored eye shadow to highlight your brow bone. Don’t worry if you haven’t had time to groom your brows recently. “It gives you an instant, fresh waxed look,” says Norma Blaqe of Norma Blaqe Studios in Los Angeles.

After you’ve applied color to your lids (silver, brown, and purple are popular choices for smoky eyes), line the inner rim of your eyes with black liner for a smoky, smudgy finish and to really make your eye color stand out. You can also apply false lashes for even more dramatic effect.

Keep the rest of your makeup natural
Since you’re applying such intense, dark colors on your eyes, opt for soft blush and a nude lip so you don’t end up looking like a clown.

When it comes to blush, apply right under your cheek bone and blend in at the corners, advises Blaqe. Switch from powder to cream blush to avoid makeup from settling into lines or wrinkles, says Nadine, who likes Maybelline’s Dream Bouncy Blush. “Avoid blushes and bronzers with too much shimmer as they will only draw attention to any fine lines,” she explains.

Make Floating Faux Fish

Make Floating Faux Fish

Floating Faux Fish
Years ago they had shrink art plastic, do your remember that? It was so much fun, I liked making things with it, made all kinds of decorations and the kids had fun with it too. Do they still sell anything like that I wonder?
I will have to look, because this would be so creative, I have a fish bowl that needz a new pet, and feeding and cleaning aren't on my to do list.
They do still sell shrink art plastic, go check out amazon
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_0_10?url=search-alias%3Darts-crafts&field-keywords=shrink%20art&sprefix=shrink+art%2Caps%2C470
this would work even better for this project.

Our Faux Fish are from Playing by the Book (playingbythebook.net), a blog about children's books and related crafts and activities. This project was inspired by One Smart Fish, by Chris Wormell.
You Will Need:
Paper and pencil
Thin plastic (we used clamshell- type food containers)
Permanent markers
Needle and thread
Glass beads (ours are about 1/3 inch wide)
Bubble wrap
Fishbowl or tank
Stones and shells
Floating Faux Fish, step 1

Step 1

Sketch a few fish shapes on paper, then lay the thin plastic on top. Trace the drawings with black permanent marker.
Floating Faux Fish, step 2

Step 2

When the ink is dry, cut out the fish. The plastic is prone to splitting during cutting, so keep the shapes simple.
Floating Faux Fish, step 3

Step 3

Color in the other side of the plastic fish with permanent markers. (Coloring on the side with the black outline will smear the ink.) Let the ink dry.
Floating Faux Fish, step 4

Step 4

Pull the needle and thread through a bead, then through a fish's mouth. Remove the needle and tie the thread ends together in a loop that's 1 1/2 to 5 inches from bead to fish. Repeat for the other fish.
Floating Faux Fish, step 5

Step 5

Cut strips of bubbles from the bubble wrap, taking care to keep the bubbles intact. Sew a strip to the top of each fish's mouth. Fill the fishbowl with water, then add your fish. Cover the bottom of the bowl with more beads, and stones and shells.

Candied or Crystallized Flowers

Candied or Crystallized Flowers
When growing flowers in my garden I always love spending time with them, and I am always looking for ways to extend their beauty, so when I found out you could candy them and use them on cakes, in foods and drinks(ice cubes) and things I was even happier to have my flowers and herbs.

Rinsed and dried edible flower blossoms, separated from the stem (suggestions: apple or plum blossoms, borage flowers, lilac florets, rose petals, scented geraniums, and the violas - violets, Johnny-jump-ups, and pansy petals)
1 extra-large egg white, at room temperature
Few drops of water
About 1 cup superfine sugar
A small paint brush
A baking rack covered with waxed paper

Instructions
Good candidates for candying are apple or plum blossoms, borage flowers, lilac florets, rose petals, scented geraniums, and the violas - violets, Johnny-jump-ups, and pansy petals.

This job takes a little patience; it seems to go more quickly if you do it with a friend. The following recipe will coat quite a few flowers, but if you need more, mix up a second batch.

In a small bowl, combine the egg white with the water and beat lightly with a fork or small whisk until the white just shows a few bubbles. Place the sugar in a shallow dish.

Holding a flower or petal in one hand, dip a paint brush into the egg white with the other and gently paint the flower. Cover the flower or petal completely but not excessively. Holding the flower or petal over the sugar dish, gently sprinkle sugar evenly all over on both sides. Place the flower or petal on the waxed paper to dry. Continue with the rest of the flowers.

Let the flowers dry completely; they should be free of moisture. This could take 12 to 36 hours, depending on atmospheric humidity. To hasten drying, you may place the candied flowers in an oven with a pilot light overnight, or in an oven set at 150 degrees to 200 degrees F with the door ajar for a few hours.

Store the dried, candied flowers in airtight containers until ready to use. They will keep for as long as a year.

Crystallized Roses by Meadowsweets
Edible candied flowers can be used as toppers for cakes, pies, sorbet, ice cream, truffles, and cupcakes.
Bag them up and give as sweet wedding guest gifts.
Add them atop beverages.
Decor for many dishes such as fruit salad or around a holiday wedding table.
They’re an inexpensive decor item and edible treat.
They don’t create waste – they vanish into bellies and if not eaten of course they completely biodegrade.
They taste fabulous.
Excellent flowers to crystallize for green weddings: Lilacs, violets, rose petals, cowslip, angelica, rosemary, sage, pinks, borage, primroses, and lavender. Leaves such as lemon balm, lemon verbena, mint, and bergmot can also be coated with sugar. Really, any edible plant can be crystallized. Just make sure you research which flowers and leaves are safe to eat before using them to make candied flowers.

Health matters: Flowers used for candied flowers need to be home grown or purchased from a reliable organic flower source. Flowers laced with sugar are cool – flowers laced with pesticides don’t belong at your green wedding.

How to make candied flowers and candied leaves:
Pansies are especially pretty in the springtime and eatable

Pick flowers on a sunny dry day – you don’t want wet petals.
Remove all stalks and white bases from petals, also remove any sharp edges, thorns, and petals that look icky. Once you coat a flower with sugar it’ll make any problems stand out.
Lightly beat an egg white until just foamy.
Dip each flower into the egg white to coat. Make sure to use plastic tweezers if holding by the petals (metal will bruise petals).
Dip into organic caster sugar.
Place on wax paper atop a wire cooling rack.
Place in your extremely low heated oven with the door slightly open. You can also dry flowers in a well enclosed solar oven or a hot greenhouse but note, small flowers are delicate and will blow away.
Once your flowers are nicely dry in the oven (not sticky or dusty to the touch) they’re done.
Candied flower storage and handling:

If you store your candied flowers in a moisture-free, air-tight containers, at room temperature (no direct sunlight) they should last a good long while. If you’re making these for a wedding, I’d make them no more than a month in advance.
Place your candied flowers your cake or other food item about 24-48 hours prior to the event; note – you can store these in the fridge or freezer once on a cake but store your cake uncovered. Placing a cover over may create too much moisture for the flowers.
To attach flowers to a wedding cake use a tiny drop of icing and be careful, as your flowers are delicate.

The story of Pussy Willows

According to an old Polish legend, many springtimes ago a mother cat was crying at the bank of the river in which her kittens were drowning. The willows at the river's edge longed to help her, so they swept their long graceful branches into the waters to rescue the tiny kittens who had fallen into the river while chasing butterflies. The kittens gripped on tightly to their branches and were safely brought to shore. Each springtime since, goes the legend, the willow branches sprout tiny fur-like buds at their tips where the tiny kittens once clung.
